MY TIMELINE. I was born in Halong -North Vietnam in1970 where I grew up with my 4 sisters and my parents. I started school in 1976 and I spent my Primary school years at a small school in Halong before moving to countryside in 1978. I moved to my fathers village when the Border War started between China and Vietnam. A few months later, the War finished. I went back home to Halong where I studied until I finished High School in 1987. In 1988 my family left Vietnam by boat for Hong Kong. In 1989 I got married to Chinese man. In 1990 I had my first baby girl. In 1991 the Australia government accepted my big family and gave us permanent residence. We were really happy because Australia is a free and a wealthy country where the Australian people are very tolerant. In 1995 I had my second baby girl and 9 years later I had my third baby girl. We have now been here for 23 years. We live in the city which is close to shops, school and public transport. A lot of people walk to amenities from there. I live in a happening place where there are water views and city views. Every day I can watch all the boat and ship passing by from my backyard. By Duyen Nguyen.
