Macon County Environmental Management is hiring for: Recycling Center Apply in person at 757 W Pershing Rd Decatur, IL between 8:30am-3:30pm M-F Part-Time Recycling Center Specialist Hours per week- Approximately 14 hours – reduced hours December - February Pay scale-$13.00 per hour Work Hours: Friday: 8:30 – 4:30 Wednesday: 10:00 – 6:00 Lunch Hour: 12:00 – 1:00 Breaks: 10:00 – 10:15 and 2:00 – 2:15 Work Responsibilities: • Operating the paint recycling program which includes accepting paint from residents on Wednesday afternoon and sorting for recycling. Operation includes utilizing a can crushing machine powered by a compressor to crush cans that automatically deposits paint into a 55 gallon drum. Once a quarter, environmental contractor will collect 55 gallon drums for transport to processing facility. Machinery must be cleaned and maintained on a regular basis. • Maintaining the event recycling containers inventory for various events and assist with transporting when needed. • Accepting rechargeable batteries and thermostats to package for recycling s hipment. • Additional duties at the discretion of the Director.
