Major Movie Reviews – *New Movie Release* White Bird in a Blizzard (R) (Drama/Thriller) Limited In Theaters Friday ‘White Bird in a Blizzard’ is an enjoyable film. Director Gregg Arakis work is a bit strange, and this film is no exception. Everyone acts a little weird and does a great job of it. Essentially, a lot of Arakis films are about getting out of the comfort zone. The fact that this film exists at all is a testament to the perseverance of a director with a unique skew on the world and the gift of being able to capture it. Nothing really adds up to much, past a solid performance from Woodley and the energetic - if out-of-place - turn from Green. Younger audiences will see The Fault in Our Stars’ Shailene Woodley once again excelling in an emotionally tricky role: Kat, a 17-year-old blooming into her wild years while reckoning with an increasingly unhinged mother. There’s just too much good stuff to dismiss White Bird in a Blizzard out of hand, even if it does have a somewhat dull and desultory plot. Overall, the film is a naughty, campy and wildly uneven. MRR gives this film 3 out of 5 General Officer Stars. Movie Story Line: Kat Connors is 17 years old when her seemingly perfect homemaker mother, Eve, disappears in 1988. Having lived for so long in an emotionally repressed household, she barely registers her mothers absence and certainly doesnt blame her doormat of a father, Brock, for the loss. But as time passes, Kat begins to come to grips with how deeply Eves disappearance has affected her. Returning home on a break from college, she finds herself confronted with the truth about her mothers departure, and her own denial about the events surrounding it. https://youtube/watch?v=pP75w7IbVmA
