Making a decision about my Bella has been gut wrenching :( her insides are a mess ... Between her pancreas, stomach and colon they are all being affected ... They can open her up for exploratory surgery and try to remove the adhesions and drain the abscess ... NO guarantees, she might not even make it thru surgery, they might not be able to remove anything, they might be able to remove everything and she wont recover, or she can spend weeks or months recovering with open wounds and drains ... Again no guarantee ... All 3 dogs her doctors operated on with same issue all passed ... Prognosis for recovery is very slim :( she is definitely a strong little dog .. Who as her dr said is stronger than any 150lb rotty he has ever seen ... The last 3 days she is back to her old self ... Alert and happy ... But inside doesnt match her outside :( how do I not give her a chance, but a chance for what, to either not make it thru surgery or suffer and stay hospitalized and in pain to try and recover ... Ive pretty much decided NO surgery ... I cannot put her thru that, I want her home. Tonight she was disconnected off her fluids to see of she holds her glucose level ... Tomorrow I will take her home to celebrate my birthday for at least a little while if shes good thru the night ... We are hoping she will eat and drink when she gets here ... If her numbers stay level thru 24 hours they will release her on Thursday with meds ... She will never recover with just meds either, so she really has no chance :( Unless by some miracle she eats drinks and gets strong enough that she is able to isolate the abscess ... So in the meantime, we will take her home and make her comfortable and happy and at the first sign of discomfort we will bring her back ... The last thing I want is for her to be in any more pain ... St. Francis please give us a little more time with her and keep her from suffering ...
