Malawi Battle Mozambique For Eagles Malawi will step up preparations for their crunch Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifier against the Super Eagles with a build-up game against Mozambique next weekend, as they keep up their hopes of shocking the African champions in September’s away fixture. With an unlikely victory during the forthcoming game in Calabar on their minds, The Flames will host Mozambique’s Mambas on Saturday, July 6 as part of activities marking Malawi’s Independence Celebrations at Civo Stadium. Football Association of Malawi (FAM) chief executive officer, Suzgo Nyirenda announced over the weekend that Mozambique’s 25-member squad is expected to jet in Lilongwe on Friday, ahead of the encounter fixed for this Saturday. Aside setting sight on September’s clash against Nigeria, the game will also help Malawi prepare for the COSAFA Cup quarter final match against Zimbabwe on July 13 in Zimbabwe. Malawi squad is dominated by home based players who are expected in camp today. Silver Strikers’ new revelation Chawanangwa Kawonga has also earned a call up. The Flames’ squad includes - Goalkeepers: Owen Chaima, Charles Swini and Richard Chipuwa; Defenders: Lucky Malata, John Lanjesi, George Nyirenda, Kondwani Lufeyo, Bongani Kaipa and Douglas Chirambo; Midfielders: Young Chimodzi Jnr, Frank Banda, Patrick Gunde, Micium Mhone, Ndaziona Chatsalira, Chimango Kayira, Fisher Kondowe, Stain Malata and Davie Banda; Strikers: Gastin Simukonda, Gabadhino Mhango, Rodrick Gonani, Joel Chipofya, Boniface Kaulesi, Shoemaker Kuwali and Chawanangwa Kawonga.
