Mama question- Would u please post! My LO is 6 weeks and has been doing pretty well latching and eating in one sitting (I am feeding her on a demand schedule, usually every 2-3 hours) but the last week or so she has been latching on after its been obvious she is ready to eat (rooting and sucking at basically anything near her mouth!) then pulling away after a few gulps and screaming as if in pain. She pushes away at the breast and just screams until eventually she calms down enough for me to guide her back to my nipple. She doe this 3-5 times in a feeding. Its exhausting! I have tried expressing or pumping an ounce or two before feeding to decrease the flow, burping multiple times during the feeding, and using gas drops. Not sure if this is normal behavior. She wasnt doing this in the beginning so it makes me question if there is something physically hurting her while feeding? No outward signs of thrush, no fever, and no diaper rash. Hmmm thoughts?
