Manipal gang-rape: Two arrested, last suspect absconding : ZN Manipal (Karnataka): The Karnataka Police on Thursday arrested two out of three culprits involved in the alleged abduction and gang-rape of a medical student here last week. On Tuesday, police had announced a Rs 2 lakh reward for information that could help them in nabbing the accused after failing to trace them or locate the autorickhaw in which the victim was abducted late June 20. A major educational centre, Manipal is 5 km from the famous Udupi temple town on the west coast of the state and about 410 km from Bangalore. Inspector General of Police (Western Range) Pratap Reddy had also released footage of the CCTV camera, which captured the suspected auto going out of the Manipal University campus gate where the victim was kidnapped by the accused around 11.35 pm on June 20 and re-entering the campus at 02.37 am on June 21 to drop her at her apartment. The incident occurred when the victim, a fourth-year student of the Kasturba Medical College, was waiting to hire an auto outside the campus gate to return to her flat.
