Many of our visitors to the 2014 Expo Lachute Fair had the opportunity to see a very unusual - and hopefully, one-of-a-kind show, that took all of us by surprise. On Saturday afternoon, in the midst of the dairy show a cloud of honey bees began circling the barns, before making the decision to begin building their colony on the front bumper of a truck belonging to one of our exhibitors. A few phone calls later and Nick Matthews of La Ferme Matthews Honey was on his way with his beekeeping equipment to begin the process of removing the bees. Nick began by first locating the Queen (using his fingers, no less) and putting her in a bee box. He then began to smoke the bees and sweep them into the box, which was left there until evening, when the rest of the colony flew in to join their Queen. For his efforts, Nick was given a first prize ribbon for beekeeping and he gained the sincere thanks of the Argenteuil Agricultural Society for his help :) ************************************************************************************ Beaucoup de nos visiteurs à lExpo 2014 ont eu loccasion de voir un très inhabituel - et espérons-le, lun dun spectacle de genre, qui a eu nous tous par surprise. Le samedi après-midi, au milieu de la laiterie juger un nuage dabeilles mellifères commencé encerclant les granges, avant de prendre la décision de commencer la construction de leur colonie sur le pare-chocs avant dun camion appartenant à lun de nos exposants. Quelques coups de téléphone plus tard et Nick Matthews de La Ferme Matthews miel était sur son chemin avec son matériel apicole pour commencer le processus délimination des abeilles. Nick a commencé par le poing de localiser la reine (en utilisant ses doigts, pas moins) et de la mettre dans une boîte dabeille. Il a ensuite commencé à fumer les abeilles et les balayer dans la boîte, où il a été laissé jusquà ce soir, alors que le reste de la colonie a volé pour se joindre à leur reine. Pour ses efforts, Nick a reçu un premier ruban de prix pour lapiculture et il a gagné les sincères remerciements de la Société dagriculture dArgenteuil pour son aide :)
