Many of you would know that this Queensland Basketball League Season I have been doing the photography for the Rockhampton Cyclones and Rockets. I do this photography on a volunteer basis, receiving no compensation for my time from Rockhampton Basketball. I use my own cameras and lenses and edit the pictures at home before posting them here on facebook, through my page One More Photography and providing them to Rockhampton Basketball Inc - once again for free. This week I have been told that despite being a volunteer and not requiring a seat I am not welcome and no longer required by Rockhampton Basketball to take pictures of the finals series. A member of the Rockhampton Basketball Incorporated Board has told me that pictures of games are not considered a priority and on that basis there is no need for me to be at the games. This shows how shortsighted, narrow minded, ignorant and arrogant Rockhampton Basketball is - to turn away a volunteer who gives you free publicity. The tickets for the games this weekend are comparable to that of the AFL finals series ($30 to $40) at the MCG. The Rockhampton Cyclones players who wish to stay after their semi final to watch the men in their semi final match have to actually pay for a ticket if they wish to have a seat - think about that - the women have to pay to watch the men play in the same game.
