Marat Shemiunov has been for many years a painter developing his own unique style. As a student of the Vaganova Academy of the Russian Ballet Marat made his early experiments in art. They turned out to be so successful he didn’t give up painting when he became a principal with the Mikhailovsky Theater despite his busy schedule. For the last five years Marat has managed to organize and hold over 20 personal exhibitions in St.Petersburg and in different countries including Japan, Great Britain and Italy. A brilliant dancer, profoundly feeling the soul of movement, Marat is better than anyone skilled to express it through the plastics of a black-and-white drawing. Images of his creartions are nimble and calligraphic - excuisite lines of ornate pieces, lace texts, symbolic portraits, multivocal like the art of dance itself...
