March 10, 2014 From Reverend Russell: Psalm 97 - TopicsExpress

March 10, 2014 From Reverend Russell: Psalm 97 (HCSB) This morning I have read Psalm 97 over and over 5 times in the past hour, just meditating on the awesome power of God reflected here. And I really keep coming back to the fact that, as a Christian, I go through my days walking with this God. Talking with this God. Serving this God. Saved from my sin by this God. Praising this God. Married to my family thanks to this God. Preaching God’s Word because of this God. Protected by this God, working for this God, and on and on the list could go. So in just a minute I’m going to put the entire Psalm on here to read, just because God is worth it for all he has done for me. And if you are a child of the King, you walk through your days, not necessarily the same ways, but for the same reason. Be encouraged today that as a Christian, God is with you. Every single moment for the remainder of your life, and beyond, He is with you. To those reading that may not yet be a Christian, as always, you and Jesus can fix that with this prayer: “Father, I am a sinner and I need a Savior. I ask Your Son, Jesus Christ, into my heart right now as Savior and Lord. Amen!” Psalm 97 “The Lord reigns! Let the earth rejoice; let the many coasts and islands be glad. Clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne. Fire goes before Him and burns up His foes on every side. His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles. The mountains melt like wax at the presence of the Lord – at the presence of the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness; all the peoples see His glory. All who serve carved images, those who boast in idols, will be put to shame. All the gods must worship Him. Zion hears and is glad, and the towns of Judah rejoice because of Your judgments, Lord. For You, Lord, are the Most High over all the earth; you are exalted above all the gods. You who love the Lord, hate evil! He protects the lives of His godly ones; He rescues them from the hand of the wicked. Light dawns for the righteous, gladness for the upright in heart. Be glad in the Lord, you righteous one, and praise His holy name.”
