March 13, 2014 Thought for the Day: Get Prepared We all have our struggles! They are all different, some are physical, some are emotional, and some are mental and most importantly most are spiritual. We all face different things at work, school and even church. Some are not spiritual in their nature but they affect our spirit man just as well as our physical man. The everyday stress of meeting deadlines and passing test are just a part of life, but the stress they sometimes bring can affect our approach and outlook in every situation. We are not always made aware of these test before we step into them. Every day is something new, something fresh. So how do you prepare for what is coming? I am not going to give Christian pad answers though they do work. Sometimes we are guilty of throwing out the Common Three real quick like they are a magic potion. Prayer, reading the Word and attending church definitely help, but to an even to a seasoned Christian that type of encouragement can seem hollow, calloused and unassuming. We already know that answer. So an unseasoned Christian or “newborn”, to stick with our Christian language, can seem even more like a slap in the face. Even more commonly since we know that answer, we wait until they are need to be serious about them. I think the answer lies in what we do with everyday life. Living your life every day to the fullest in Christ. That means surrounding your life in the company of believers, filling your spirit with the Godly music and Godly reading materials. I am not talking isolation from the world but you have to be rooted and grounded. So many times we have a hard times facing these situations because we have not prepared ourselves for the battle ahead of time. Show me a soldier who has not prepared for war, an athlete who doesn’t practice, (excluding of course Allen Iverson) or a student who doesn’t study for an exam and I will show you someone who is unsuccessful. How you practice is how you play. We know this is not a game yet still we must prepare for what is to come. My prayer for you today is that you live like tomorrow is the biggest test or game of your life. If you prepare that way it will change the way you live. 1 Samuel 7:3 (Abbreviated) If ye do return unto the Lord with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the Lord, and serve him only: and he will deliver you.
