Mark 8:2 and 3 I have compassion on the multitude because they - TopicsExpress

Mark 8:2 and 3 I have compassion on the multitude because they have now been with me three days and have nothing to eat. If I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint on the way there. For many came from very far away. Notice Jesus did not say I will have compassion on these people for they have fasted for three days, but that He will have compassion on them for they were in His presence three days fasting. It is being daily in the presence of God in Christ Jesus that brings Gods compassion upon men. The hunger of men to just follow Jesus rather than to fulfill the lusts of their flesh. These that followed Jesus did so despite the real danger where would they eat? Yet no where in scripture did these complain to Jesus for Jesus saw their need, but allowed these faithful followers to be tried. Then after their trial before He would send them away He had compassion and fed the needs of their body. So it is with God that first He tries us, and then He comforts us. Do not take the comfort, before the trial. Do not serve self, but follow Jesus.
