Marking a defining moment in the history of two nations, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa will begin his debut state visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan tomorrow. The three-day visit is expected to mark milestones in terms of boosting the commercial cooperation, which already has already attained a great significance in the bilateral relations between the two Islamic nation. The first-of-its-kind visit, where the heads of states will be holding official meetings to enhance the existing bilateral relations, comes three decades after a visit by His Majesty’s father, the late Amir HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa in 1974. “Shaikh Isa had visited to attend the Islamic Forum, which was on a totally different context, while this visit by HM to our country is an official state visit, which is symbolic of the great relations that we share as two countries and its people,” said Mr. Saleem. It is a long-awaited visit and Pakistan and its people both in Bahrain and homeland eagerly looks forward to it, he said. Major MoUs underway Mr. Saleem affirmed that the visit will witness the two countries signing several major Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in various fields. “His Majesty is accompanied by businessmen from Bahrain and hence there would be major B2B discussions and platforms, where we expect trade MoUs to be signed. Education is another field where we hope to see further ties to be established with the University of Bahrain and leading Universities of Pakistan. Apart from these, deals are expected on cultural and labour related matters as well,” noted the envoy. HM the King will meet Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during the visit, apart from various other key ministers, it was noted. Commercial boost The business delegation, including the Industry and Commerce Minister Dr. Hassan Fakhro and the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) members will be holding open platforms on the third day to discuss new business deals, it was learnt. The one-on-one meetings, between top leaderships, in itself can be regarded as a major outcome of the visit, which we regard highly important, there would also be discussions on sharing of science and technology expertise within the scope of educational MoUs. Labour and vocational skills training, aiming towards trimming the labour force to suit the need of the Kingdom will also be debated. HM the King is expected to be accompanied by a large delegation, including members of the Royal family and the Royal Court. Ministers of Interior, Foreign Affairs, Labour and Education are also part of the almost 200-member delegation. including ( Mobitel Communication W.L.L.)
