Martin Luther Kings Last speech in 1968 on Governments violation - TopicsExpress

Martin Luther Kings Last speech in 1968 on Governments violation of basic Constitutional Rights: All we say to America is be true to what you said on paper. If we lived in China, Russia or another Totalitarian State, maybe I could understand some of these illegal injustions, maybe I could understand the denial of certain basic First Amendment privileges, but, Somewhere I read of the Freedom of Assembly, Somewhere I read of the Freedom of Speech, Somewhere I read of the Freedom of Press, Somewhere I read that the Greatness of America is the Right to PROTEST for Rights. So just as I say we arent gonna let any dogs or fire hoses turn us around, we arent gonna let any injunction turn us around. MLK practiced civil disobedience where violence is prohibited even when it would be in their favor. King believed the only way to get his point across was by taking action, and just like Gandhi, he believed the action has to be in the form of non-violent protest without the use of any physical force. King also said that to justify acts of civil disobedience, you must prove that wrong has been done to you, and have the facts to prove why you are opposing the something or someone.
