Match Day Programme Chairman’s View 25th October 2014 – Seaham Red Star Following on from the resignation of Peter Mulcaster immediately after the Billingham Town the club asked coach Danny Mellanby to take charge of team affairs until a new manager is appointed. The club have advertised the vacant manager’s post and look to make an appointment within the next two weeks. The club are keen to recruit someone who will continue the closer relationship that has been forged with Northallerton Town Academy and ensure that local players of quality who aspire to play for their hometown club can realise their ambition. The club are also keen to recruit a manager who will play his part not only in bringing success on the field but will also be a willing participant in improving the facilities and infrastructure of the Ainderby Road campus. Whilst the club recognises that we must move on after Mully’s departure we also wish to thank him for his all hard work and commitment during his third spell here. He will always be a welcome visitor and his many friends at the club will be pleased to see him. Although saddened by Peter’s decision to leave it is a case of business as usual for the visit of Seaham Red Star. The team’s away form has been disappointing but at home we have generally managed a creditable result but that all came to an end with the visit of Billingham Town last week. The team need a boost after last weeks difficulties and I know the supporters will be keen to give them their wholehearted support. Because I don’t rush into print to express my disappointment at losing or at poor performances don’t imagine I feel these reversals any less than you fans who travel and support the team from the terraces come rain or shine. We started this season with aspirations, expectations and great optimism. Early season form and results showed that was well placed. Sadly for whatever reason we have fallen back from that great start. The ultimate responsibility is mine, as chairman I must support the players and management and protect the team from the worst of the criticisms but I am very aware that the buck stops with me. Today we start the road back to success, come on the Town.
