Both teams deserve great credit for serving up a terrific game in difficult conditions.Eastwood were on the front foot from the kick-off and Tommy Duffy almost opened the scoring in the first minute but the Port Glasgow defence managed to scramble the ball away. Eastwood totally dominated the opening exchanges with Matt Murphy once again running riot down the right hand side.In the 11th minute Eastwood were awarded a penalty kick when Tommy Duffy was impeded when he tried to get on the end of a Matt Murphy cross. Unfortunately Tommy hit the bar from the spot.The goal Eastwood deserved arrived on 23 minutes. A free kick from William Armstrong was mis-judged by the home defence which allowed William Sewell to lift the ball over the advancing keeper.The loss of the goal appeared to wake up the home side and they began to come more into the game. The equaliser came on 27 minutes in fortuitous circumstances. A mis-hit shot ended up at the feet of a Port Glasgow striker who slotted the ball past Eastwood keeper Ryan Truesdale as he came off his line. Port Glasgows good fortune continued 2 minutes later when a 35 yard Josh Jess free kick crashed off the bar onto the back of the home keeper before he managed to save the ball on the line.Port Glasgow went ahead after 34 minutes when a wind assisted shot eluded Ryan Truesdale at the back post.( HT 1 - 2 ) Eastwood were almost back on level terms straight from the re-start when some neat play between Joe Sweeney and Jack Agnew set up Tommy Duffy but Tommys shot slipped agonisingly past the post. Eastwood equalised on 49 minutes when Jack Agnew cut in from the left hand side before striking a shot into the far corner of the net.Port Glasgow regained the lead on 61 minutes with perhaps the goal of the game. The Port Glasgow number 8 created some space for himself on the right hand side of the box before floating a delightful lob into the far corner of the net to complete his hat-trick.The scores were level again on 70 minutes when William Armstrong powered home a header from a well delivered corner from Jamie Dolan.Five minutes later Port Glasgow made it 4 - 3. Ryan Truesdale saved the intial shot but a home striker reacted quicker than the Eastwood defence to to fire home the rebound. Port Glasgow sealed the win with a break away goal in injury time as Eastwood committed men forward.
