Mathebula wont mind joining kaizer chiefs again United bounced back from their last weekend’s loss at Platinum Stars with a 3-1 win over Golden Arrows on Saturday, and Mathebula tells Goal that they are starting to gel SuperSport United midfielder David “DVD” Mathebula has told Goal that he is still trying to regain his best form despite being one of the outstanding players for Matsatsantsa this season. Mathebula was brilliant for the Tshwane giants this past the weekend, producing a man of the match performance to help United climb to second on the log, and he is happy with the progress that they have made as a team so far. “Slowly but surely, I think we are starting to gel as a team. We are a new team altogether, and I think we have done well to be where we are now,” Mathebula told Goal. The 30-year-old Mathebula revealed that the management hasn’t said anything to them about winning the league, but he said that it goes without saying that they should be fighting for honours every season having won the league three times in a row between 2008 and 2010. “SuperSport United won the league three times. So, it is one of the teams that are expected to be up there fighting for the league. They set the standard and we are all striving towards achieving that,” he said. Mathebula, who has played for Mpumalanga Black Aces and Moroka Swallows previously, said he wouldn’t rule out the return to Kaizer Chiefs if the opportunity presents itself, but says he is happy to be at SuperSport United. “I’d never say I won’t go back to Chiefs or I wouldn’t play for any other team. There are surprises in football. I might end up at Black Leopards next season. Nobody knows, but I am happy at SuperSport,” added Mathebula. #phats Follow us on Twitter
