Meditation There is a lot of misinformation out there about mediation. Here is some condensed information. It should take place in the dark. The objective (or one of the primary objectives) is to open the pineal gland of the brain. The pineal is a light sensitive organ and only secretes melatonin (and potentially DMT, the spirit molecule) in the dark. This is backed up in the bible. Matthew 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. and, Luke 12:3 Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops. It is not about focusing on anything, or visualizing, or concentrating, it is the opposite. You want to “take no thought”. Separate from thought – empty your mind. Matthew 6:21 - 6:34 Where Jesus instructs - "take no thought" no less than five times, the five is also a reference to shutting down of the senses, shutting down of the brain - there are no accidents in the construct of the bible. It is only our understanding, which limits our ability to see the message. In Matthew 6:22 Jesus tell us "the light of the body is the eye; if therefore thine eye be single thy whole body will fill with light." The scientific understanding is that we are hoping to reduce our brainwave activity from Beta (13-30 cycles per second, freaking out), to Alpha (8-13 cycles per second relaxed alert), to theta and below 8 (loads of 8 symbolism related to this point, crossing the red sea to the promised land) Luke 2:21 And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb. The child is the Christ consciousness. The meditation should be accompanied by music or chanting this preoccupying activity can be very helpful at separating from thought and is a foundation for many styles of Buddhist and even Christian mediation practices (Gregorian monks). Also, practically speaking it next to impossible to hold a thought while holding your breath. As the Hindu adepts say, “enter (within) though your breath” and as you know breathing is a primary focus of your yoga practice. How long do you need to meditate? Long enough to slow your brainwave activity, but it does not need to be a set length because it comes in an instant. 1 Corinthians 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
