Mehd is now probably staying at the Japanese Camp in the Arfak - TopicsExpress

Mehd is now probably staying at the Japanese Camp in the Arfak mountains for Arfak Astrapia and Black Sicklebill. I remember when we were there in 2009 and it was extremely windy. The guides were puzzled, because they had to look for the birds in new locations - the birds had simply been blown away from their normal roosting and feeding places. This just goes to show that we can never promise what birds too see. And the other way around. The bonus of a New Guinea Flightless Rail just jumping in front of the group in the deep swamps of Nimbokrang! Our guide Jamil, who knows the forest by heart had never ever seen the Rail behaving like that and never in that habitat.
