Melbourne Australia there is no tipping at restaurants? Cool. They must pay their help a real wage. What I dont get is how can the fast food places pay at least minimum wage with meals less that cost less than a sit down restaurant, but sit down restaurants meals cost more, around double (or more) and they expect their customers to tip and pay their waitresses wages? I seldom go to a sit down restaurant here. By the time you pay for the overpriced food and then a 15-20% tip on top... I cant afford to pay out 1/4 to 1/3 of my grocery bill on one meal. I havent been to a sit down restaurant since July or August.
