Mello is a gorgeous, three-year-old boy, a big hunk at over 60 pounds. His life was turned upside down when his owner was evicted and he was seized from the place hed called home. He ended up in a kennel in Manhattan ACC and because he failed his SAFER, thats exactly where he stayed, hidden away from but a select few, until it was 6 oclock tonight, and his name appeared on the euth list. Mello way have a few quirks that need correction (for example, he doesnt get what should be so funny about the tag item,) and if a potential foster or adopter has another dog, a meet and greet is in order; however, he is a healthy, life-loving guy whose gorgeous, but very much dead body will end up in a black freezer bag unless we can find a home - temporary or permanent - for him tonight. And that... that would be a crying shame. A volunteer writes: Mello apparently shares his name with an anime character, but whether there are any other shared characteristics is beyond me. What I do know is that our Mello is an engaging, intelligent pup looking for a brand new home! He is slightly reserved but terribly handsome and responds promptly to sit and shake commands. Mello joined us when his owner ran into difficulties but appears house trained and cordial to other dogs. His leash skills could use a little polish as he walks at a clipped pace, but he walks well for the most part, passing other dogs smartly and staying close by my side. The adorable glance he gives me when I say Oh, what a good boy is simply priceless! Off leash in the playpen, he loves to dance with bouncing balls and then becomes all wriggly and waggly when offered a yummy liver treat. So if you are looking for a terrific guy who needs a bit of polishing, come see Mello. Get on the adoption bandwagon and become Mellos hero - anime knowledge is optional!
