Michael Magie is our new outspoken YEC, so I am just going to call - TopicsExpress

Michael Magie is our new outspoken YEC, so I am just going to call him out on something. In another thread you said: Just because all animals and plants have common building blocks does not prove that we all came from the same source. This is a documented, observable fact: The DNA of an organism can change through mutation. These mutations can give rise to directly observable changes in the phenotype of the organism. If we compare the genome of different animals such as chimpanzees and humans, we see that a large percentage of their genome is nearly identical. I challenge you to answer this Michael: Given that we know DNA can change, and we see two organisms sharing very similar DNA, how is NOT logical to assume they shared a common ancestor with equally similar DNA? Added bonus: If you compared my DNA to my fathers and then compared my DNA to my 3rd cousin twice removed, we would find that my DNA more closely matches my fathers, because I am more closely related to him. That is the exact same logic we are using to determine our relatedness to other species. We measure the amount of difference in the DNA. If it works for paternity tests, why doesnt it work for other living organisms with DNA?
