Michigan State Police say a suspect has been arrested in the triple shooting that killed a 2-year-old and critically injured a 12-year-old child Tuesday. The shooting was apparently in retaliation for a shooting at an after hours club near Inkster High School in April. Three people, including the suspect in Tuesdays shooting, were hit in that incident. Officers say the suspect, who is in his 30s, was hit several times. At a news conference, police say the suspect in Tuesdays shooting was taken into custody at a girlfriends house in Brownstown Township. Two-year-old Kamiya LaShawn Gross was killed and a 12-year-old girl named Chelsea was critically injured in Tuesdays triple shooting in Inkster. Kamiya was hit in the head. Chelsea is described as a relative. She was hit multiple times and is currently in stable condition. The third victim is 34-year-old Kenny French, who was also hit multiple times. Police say he is Kamiyas father and that information he provided, along with information from other witnesses, led to the arrest of the suspect. Officers say French was also involved in the April shooting. However, officers would not say if he was the shooter in that incident. Both Inkster Police and Michigan State Police responded Tuesday night to the scene on Carlisle Street. Officers say the suspect approached French and began speaking with him. He then pulled out a handgun and shot Kamiya in the head. He then fired multiple shots at the other victims, hitting Chelsea and French. He then ran away from the scene on foot. Police believe its possible he got away from the scene in a white Hyundai. Police are still seeking a second suspect in the case.
