Midlands Sri Maha Mariamman Aerial Videography Promo- Stay tuned for full video. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, Ladang Midlands (now known as Sri Maha Mariamman Temple Section 7, Shah Alam) was founded in the 1920s by estate workers of Ladang Midlands with the aid of their employer. In the 1940s, the temple was in need for repair to accommodate the increasing number of visitors from time to time. In 1960, the position of this temple site had to be moved further from the main highway to give way for construction / expansion of the Klang-Kuala Lumpur Highway. The Federal and State Government have given financial assistance (provision) to bear the expenses of construction of this temple. Also with the help of residents and Mariamman devotees, the construction of new temple was completed in 1961 and the Kumbabishegam celebration was held successfully. temple-building-old-original In line with the provisions of the temple, the temple committee has been working since 1980s and in 1990, the temple managed to get the approval from the Office of the Registrar of Societies Malaysia. As was the custom of Hindu religion, Hindu temple building should be repaired after every 12 years. Thus, after 35 years, in 1996, this temple was repaired again. At that time, the committee received financial assistance from the State Assembly and Member of Parliament for Shah Alam. With the help of the public and the government, temple was reformed in 1997 and the festival Kumbabishegam, was held again. The Committee pursued to seek approval for land from State Government and PKNS. Thus, in 2008, the Committee managed to get the approval for 1.25 acres land for this temple. The Temple Committee has applied for approval for temple building from Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam and got the approval in 2008. The construction began in 2008 and is expected to be completed in 2013. This temple conducts various social activities for the needy on regular basis. The activities are as follows: 1. Religious classes for children (Thevaram) 2. Academic classes for students 3. Motivation seminars for UPSR, PMR and SPM students 4. Welfare assistance to the poor
