Midsummer Night Magic celebrates Concord’s vibrant creativity, culture and community spirit! Midsummer Night Magic, an event that paraded into downtown Concord, NH for the first time last year will return on Friday June 21, 2013 at 5pm. Midsummer Night Magic, presented by The Duprey Companies, is a summoning of community spirit, an evening festival of the unexpected, and a treasure trove of family-friendly fun. The magic will take over the courtyards and side streets of downtown Concord with live performances, multicultural musings, artistic acts, an outdoor movie and a people’s parade. There is no cost for admission to the event but we encourage patronage to the downtown restaurants and merchants, many of whom will be staying open late and offering discounts and specials. Creative Concord (a committee of the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce) and Lincoln Financial bring back the Creative Concord Caravan, a participatory parade – and not your average parade! The Creative Concord Caravan will feature a Kazoophony orchestrated by the Concord Community Music School, the No Monkey Business “Who Let The Dogs Out” Costumed Dog Posse and other surprises! Community members are invited to dress up in creative costumes and participate in the Caravan that will leave the State House around 5:45pm and end in Bicentennial Square. Come early and enjoy the Kid Jazz Band and the visually stunning Artsfest Aerialists! In Bicentennial Square, True Brew Barista will be presenting more amusement with the Tribal Zoe tribe of belly dancers, Artsfest hula hoopers, beer tasting and a photo booth! Local radio station “The Planet” will be bringing some local talent and broadcasting live while their bands rock the square. Red River Theatres brings its own brand of family fun to Eagle Square with an outdoor showing of the movie “Back to the Future,” sponsored by Orr and Reno, PA. Come dressed in your best 80’s garb and win a prize in the costume contest, judged by local radio station 105.5 JYY. Admission is free. The film starts at dusk. The Concord community has welcomed the infusion of other arts-related events into the city’s cultural landscape in recent years and the addition of this type of festival will continue that development.
