Might have to convert my pool. I like the natural approach to keeping the water clean. I have made ponds and water gardens before, and if you know what youre doing, the right combination of properly sized aggregate, plants, and aquatic and/or amphibious animals, combined with the proper amount of circulation and oxygenation will keep a clean, clear, self sustaining miniature ecosystem. NO chlorine, or algeacide, or clarifier necessary. That means clear, clean, and healthy swimmable water. It also means that, if you do it properly, you could use the ecosystem to farm fish and/or edible plant foods. Even planting a few of the right plants would mean no need to feed your fish, or frogs, or what have you. I would love to do something like this. Marty Devine... you want to help me turn my yard into a kick ass, self sustainable ecosystem???
