Mikel Restates Chelsea Commitment -Says Hes A Team Player Chelsea of England midfielder, John Mikel Obi has come out with a stern declaration that he remains committed to the cause at Stamford Bridge, and insists he is determined to continue being a team player, rather than seek personal glory. Speaking against the backdrop of renewed transfer talk rolling round him in the January window, with the like of Germany’s Schalke 04 and AC Milan of Italy cited with interest in his signature, Mikel insists he is not thinking of sacrificing team loyalty for his individual aspirations. Mikel further spoke about his lack of scoring form with The Blues, having scored only once in the English Premier League and another in the UEFA Champions League since his transfer from Lyon Oslo of Norway nine years ago, but said he will rather play for other to shine and the team to win While also admitting that he is aware of transfer talk rolling round him in the winter transfer market, Mikel vowed to stay put in London until at least the end of this season. “I have always said in my nine years here that I am a team player. I am not one who wants to take glory just for myself; I’ve gone out of my way to do things whereby I have limited my game but for the good of the team, for the team to succeed. “I will keep doing that as long as I am here. My joy and my happiness is to come away week in and week out knowing that we have won a game. “I will always continue to do that and my job is to make sure I keep the balance of the team. Every week that I manage to do it I am very proud of myself,” Mikel told chelseafc.
