Mioks belt Eagles in Goroka RUGBY LEAGUE By PHILIP KEPSON (Post Curier 29 July 2013) Enga Mioks thrashed Wamp Nga Mt Hagen Eagles 36-16 to move another step up the ladder in the prestigious Digicel Cup in Goroka yesterday. The show down was witnessed by Enga Governor Peter Ipatas, his counterpart from Eastern Highlands Julie Soso, Lands Minister Benny Allan, Chuave MP Wera Mori and more than 10,000 people from Enga, Lae, Mt Hagen and the host province. The neighbouring teams were locked on four points at half time before Mioks hard running lock Andrew Sipil put up an outstanding display of football skills in the second half to score three tries and send a signal that his team was a serious contender for the Cup. Full back Jeffrey Maino opened the score books with an unconverted try in the 20th minute to take an early 4-0 lead. However, that was the only try for the first half as their opponents did not allow them to make any breaks with brick wall defence. Their attempts on collecting more points did not materialise as more converted tries to further push the score to 36-10.
