Mockery of Parliamentary Democracy ! BJP may have won the vote - TopicsExpress

Mockery of Parliamentary Democracy ! BJP may have won the vote of confidence in Maharashtra but has lost its moral standing. Its shocking that a trust vote was done without the government proving its number. In the past, if you remember, Vajpayee government had fallen because of just one vote. Todays farce in Maharashtra assembly is objectionable on three counts - it reflects legal fraud, political duplicity & moral bankruptcy on part of the new government. 1. Legal Fraud : Violates basics of parliamentary democracy by being legally at fault. Formal recording of votes is a must even if only ONE MLA demands it. 2. Political Duplicity : It conceals the nature of (unholy) alliance that sustains the government and covers up any cracks withing BJP. 3. Moral Bankruptcy : A Trust-vote is meant to give a government a moral legitimacy to govern. Rejection of vote-count fails to inspire peoples confidence in the government. Is the fraud in Maharashtra assembly a glimpse of things to come? Is this a trailer of how disdainfully constitutional norms are to be flouted in future? Hope its not!
