Monday, According to the weather folks the hot days of summer are rolling in this week. We will be keeping a close watch on the animals and humans around the farm. Today, is the first day and there is not a sound to be heard around the coop or the barn. Everyone has found themselves a place to lay down on the ground and stay cool (?). Saturday and Sunday we went down to the barn lots and let everyone out to free-range. We spend some of the time just setting out where they are all free-ranging, you never know who is going to want you to pick them up and who is coming by for a pat on the head. I slow down when the temperature goes up and I try to spend more time with the animals to be sure they are doing good in the heat. For the humans I will make a pot of sun tea, the goats may have some raspberry tea and the girls will have ice cubes in their big watering tray they can walk through. We are keeping a close on eye on the setting and broody hens. I will be adding an ice cube to their water bowls also. I am not telling any of you have to take care of your animals this is the way I do it because I really enjoy the time I spend with my flocks. It also helps me forget about the weather being with them!!! Good day to everyone and I am so pleased some of our Friends in Texas are getting RAIN!!! l
