Monday night I suffered a Jones Fracture on the outside bone of my right foot. Typically a form of stress fracture, the location of a Jones Fracture has limited blood flow that complicates healing. Surgery to insert a screw to stabilize the bone is the standard of care. My gifted doctor, Dr. Chris Coetzee, squeezed me onto his surgery schedule today. On the upside, this newly required surgery provided an unanticipated opportunity to tweak the tendon repairs performed in my two previous ankle surgeries during the last twenty-two months. (I told Dr. Coetzee we need to stop meeting like this!) While I will now sport some additional ankle scars, perhaps I will eventually get back into my high heels. A gal can always hope!
