Monsters in the Churchs Closet (part 1) Wrote this in the past, thought I would share around Halloween. Today I am going to start a serious of blogs entitled Monsters in the Churchs Closet. These blogs will compare popular monster characters to everyday church goers. I dont want to say Christians because I do not believe that everyone who attends church regularly is a Christian. You see people of the world and some church goers see Gods church as four walls with a steeple and a cross on top, when actually the church is the true believers in Jesus. This is why I am confident to say that Gods church has no hypocrites in it, while the churches of men are full of them. I just wanted to clear that up before we get started. As you can see from the pic below our first monster is the vampire. Here are 3 key facts about the Vampire of the Church 1. Live off of someone 2. Fear Spiritual Things 3. They Change form depending upon company(they always have to fit in) Lets start with number one and work our way down the list. 1 says that they live off someone else. If you have ever watched a scary vampire movie you know that they must have the blood of someone else too. While vampires of the modern day church do not need the blood of a fellow member to survive they do need others to keep their church life going. These are the church goers who constantly living off a number member of the church, you all no one. They only show up to church when the one they are attached to is there, they have to have an exciting service to keep interested and they constantly need encouragement to attend. These vampires may not be noticed by the regular congregation but in teen ministries they are easy to pick out. They only show up when the most popular kids are there and you can tell that they are use attached to a dedicated teen who always invites the vampire and they wont say no. Number 2 on our list says that they fear spiritual things. In the movies the vampires are always afraid of the cross, Holy water, and any thing attached to Christianity. Well the modern day church vampire is the same he/she squirms and looks uncomfortable during pray, worship, or the preaching and teaching. Although they may attend church regularly they just can not get comfortable when the spiritual heat is turned up. They are fine shaking hands, making small talk, and at church functions but when it comes to the actually spirituality of the service they want no part of it and do their best to fit in and not look out of place. They will clap when others clap, stand when others stand, bow their head while others pray, say amen when others do so, and may even work their way into a choir seat or as the teacher of a Sunday School class. The third and final trait of the church vampire is that they change form quickly. In the movies the vampire will always turn into at bat and Grandpa on the Muntsers would some times turn into a wolf. The key is that the vampire changes form and the church vampire changes form depending upon their company. Like I said early when around those in church they are modern day saints but when they are in the company of those outside of the church they transform into their true character. We have all know them and we have all seen them, these individuals are as two faced as they come. They clean up their bad habits two or s a week to show up at church but while in the world they act as the world. These individuals are the ones who give Christians the bad name and have most of us labeled as hypocrites. You have all heard the famous one liner from the world about the church vampire, If he/she is going to heaven so am I. The Church Vampire is a master of changing form just like his or her movie counterpart. You may ask, why are you writing this blog? Well if the church vampire is not fool me and they are not fooling the world then they are sure not fooling God on Judgment Day. The Bible says that you shall know a man by the fruit they bare. A righteous man will bring forth righteous fruit while the same is true of the unrighteous. Have you fooled yourself into believing that since you show up a church every service that you are ok with God? Americas churches are over flowing with church vampire, are you one? The Bible says that God wishes you were hot or cold instead of lukewarm. The church vampire is lukewarm and straddling the fence between the righteous and the world. The Bible says that if you are lukewarm Jesus will spew you out of his mouth on judgment day. Think about that statement. If I hold some warm water in my mouth the water is in my body but not part of my body and the same is true of the church vampire. They are in the body of Christ (they attend with Christians) but they are not a part of the body of Christ (a true believer). THIS IS A WAKE UP CALL TO ALL CHURCH VAMPIRES. IF WE SEE IT, GOD DOES TOO.
