{Monuments} Monument to General P.I. Bagration. The monument to Commander P.I. Bagration (sculptor – M.K. Merabishvili, architect – B.I. Thor), prince of Georgian extraction and hero of Russian Patriotic War (1812), was erected in the public garden in Kutuzovsky Prospekt in front of business complex Bashnya-2000. It was unveiled on September 5, 1999. It is bronze statue of Bagration ahorse, fixed up on trapeziform granite pedestal with commemorative epigraph on cartouche: “The Motherland is thankful to Pyotr Ivanovich Bagration”. The prince is emmarbled as victorious commander of Russian Patriotic War of 1812 – he calls his warriors to struggle and this call for attack can be seen in commanding look of the prince, his posture, stroke of the blade in his right hand. We see the warrior, flying on the wings of glory, as that which the soldiers saw him on Borodin day, fatal to the General. Address: Kutuzovsky Prospekt Source: travel2moscow
