Moonlight is on the way to Los Lunas for colic surgery. It is unbelievable that we do not have ONE SINGLE vet in this area willing to do colic surgery. This horse is in pain, but now he has to endure a 4 hour trailer ride. And of course nobody even wants to look at him unless you have a $5000 down payment!!! Thank you Edith for helping with that part!!!!!! Moonlight does have colic insurance and mortality insurance ... if he dies though, no amount of money will make up for that loss! It took 15 years to get a horse like him ... There is something wrong with the hay!!! We do not know if its the grass hay or the alfalfa, but a toxin is suspected. We will have the hay tested ... that doesnt help the horses we already lost. And I have no idea what to feed tomorrow. We have a barn full of hay, but I will not feed any of it ... The horses colic. It starts out mild, but progresses quickly and they die within hours. And we caught Tehyas and Moonlights colic practically the second they started, didnt make a difference. The vet was here since about 4 this afternoon and she worked on him until we loaded him in the trailer a little while ago. He just kept getting worse ... Our vet is actually going to Los Lunas with Moonlight so she can keep administering meds on the way there. Please everybody, pray as hard as you can.
