More than 47,000 children have been apprehended by border security agents in 2014 alone. Not only is it appalling that our security is so lax, but it’s also heartbreaking to hear how many of these children are dying or becoming victims of human trafficking along the way. I believe we must deport the tens of thousands of unaccompanied children who have been detained at the border. Central American families are giving thousands of dollars to traffickers to get their children to the U.S. If we don’t demonstrate that this strategy will not work, the humanitarian crisis at our border will only get worse. We also must amend the 2008 law that prevents the U.S. from quickly processing and deporting children who arrive here from Central American countries. The current loophole provides the incentive for individuals to make this dangerous journey. Do you agree?
