More troops sent to Kachin region as dialogue begins By KLN Monday, October 8, 2013 Burmese army has reportedly sent more troops to Kachin region as the two sides meet in Myitkyina beginning this Monday. A local source says villagers from Nar Uu Gyi, Nar Uu Lay, and Nant Te village in Mansi Township in southern Kachin State have already left their villages to flee from possible conflict between Kachin Independence Army and Burmese Army. More Burmese Army troops have been stationed near these villages and local residents are fearful that gun battles can erupt anytime soon. Hundreds of villagers fled their villages and sought shelters at a Kachin Baptist Church’s compound. Another group of about 200 villagers made their way to Hpan Hka Kone village located just outside Bhamo. More Infantry units from Burmese army’s 99th Light Infantry Division (LID) have been arriving in Katha, a town located near Sagaing-Kachin border, since the beginning of last week and heading towards KIA’s 12th Battalion and 27th Battalion areas. kachinlandnews/?p=23817
