Most of you know I have an affinity for the British way of life - - TopicsExpress

Most of you know I have an affinity for the British way of life - emotionally constipated, very much tradition and a rabid love of rugby and football (the football outside of America). But no one has asked why. Well here is why. The United Kingdom has a Queen. She has no real power other than being that one constant in the life of the day to day British person. Having no real power the Queen has a government that acts in her interests I (ceremonial). But what the Queen does possess is that constancy of tradition and history. She also has a power of smirking or blinking or smiling and setting the Inland and Commonwealth opinion one direction or another. That is true power. Her reputation and commitment to her role has earned her such power and deed. A very much democratic nation with a Sovereign. Let us not forget the Queen is also the head of the Church of England. Our former homeland became what we say we are. Now lets look at a my homeland supposedly the beacon of democracy, not so much. I am conservative, gay, with a husband, and two children. We are the opitomy of what the United States strives to be or thought to be ... What my homeland has is an entire political establishment who has done everything in its power to block our President from being effective. When our President tired of that stupidity used the power he was granted by law, the opposition is now going to sue him ... Total disclosure, I did vote for the President both times but not for being a liberal that wouldnt be true. The fear of AquaNet man, Skeletor and Caribou Barbie forced my vote. I dont agree with the President on some matters. One being the version of health care that got through. He should have stuck to his original plan. If it failed it failed. He did do something that the last President couldnt accomplish (I voted for the last President both times). He took out the person that killed 3700 Americans and friends of America. That deserves a friggin nod. The party I used to belong to has been taken hostage by the tea baggers, religious nut jobs and people who just cannot bear having a black President. That party is imploding because of the afore mentioned subsets. What do we do to set the tables right? Start thinking like Americans again. We can accomplish what we set our minds to, just start thinking again. Stop being lobotomized cattle following the party line or church dogma. Think like we did when we decided to be free of our oppressors. And historical note the King actually was rather fond of the Colonies. His Parliament lit that fuse. Lets take back our country. We pay for it. Our last President did have a good plan, Nation Building. Lets rebuild our Nation first. A favorite movie of mine had the quote, People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people. V (Hugo Weaving) - V for Vendetta. Instead of saying Remember, remember the 5th of November, the Gun Powder Treason and Plot. I say consider, consider the 4th of July never forget why our forefathers die. That was my rant for the season. Do enjoy the our Nations day and what we need to do to take our country back - think and act.
