Most people I talk to are always on some kind of DIET!!!! No Carbs is the one that gets me!! My personal view on a diet are that they are short term fixes and have an expiration date. They also usually consist of a whole list of things you cannot consume!! This is not sustainable, for eg... Im not eating carbs?? This one completely confuses me... Foods high in carbohydrates are an important part of a healthy diet. Carbs provide the body with glucose, which is converted into energy and used to support bodily functions and physical activity. But carbohydrate quality is important; some carbohydrates are better than others. * Healthier sources are unprocessed or minimally processed whole grains, vegetables, minerals and fibre. * Unhealthier sources include white bread, pastries and high processed or refined foods. These are easily digested that if eaten in excess will contribute to weight gain, interfere with weight loss and potentially promote onset of diabetes and heart disease. Try these tips for adding healthy carbohydrates to your daily intake - 1. Start the day with wholegrains - Oats are a great way to start the day. (I add oats to my breakfast smoothie) 2. Use whole grain breads 3. Look beyond bread Its easy to have bread daily, but can be high in sodium, try alternatives such as in a form of a salad, use brown rice or quinoa. 4. Choose whole fruit instead of a juice carton An orange has 2 times more fibre and half as much sugar as a glass of orange juice. 5. Switch the potatoes at every meal for beans. Try switching a couple of meals each week to having beans instead ie chickpeas. They are a great source of carbohydrates and protein too. My motto... Everything In Moderation. Do not eliminate foods from your intake. If you found this useful and helpful please feel free to like & share.
