Moving the Piano The church had a problem, the piano had always sat on the right side of the pulpit and some of the younger members suggested that it be moved to the left side. Well you would have thought that the end was coming for the whole church membership were split fairly equal in the age groups. Finally a special business meeting was called and the pastor and deacons were sweating bullets at the problems they were certain would boil the church over and possibly cause a split. There were family members that were no longer speaking to each other, that was the seriousness of the debate. The night of the meeting both sides had spoken and they were evenly split. Then old man Jones stood and asked to speak. He said, Folks that there piano was a setting right thar when my granddaddy was a boy and while my daddy was a growing up it was ah setting right thar. I am 90 years old and that thar piano has ah been setting right thar all my life! Now you all hear me good, when you vote I will be happy to die with that thar piano ah setting tight thar, but if youuns vote to move that thar piano I tell ya all what I am going to do! Everyone held their breath waiting for the ax to fall. Old man Jones said If ya’ll vote to move that thar piano over yonder it going to be hard, but if somebody will help me I will get one end and we will put her over thar…..He sat down…never did no how the vote went but the church is still doing great and old man Jones has been in heaven for a long time.
