Mr. Holland here with a Tink IEP update: The Mrs. and I are both emotionally and mentally drained from our follow-up meeting this morning. The meeting couldnt have derailed anymore than it did, so to say that we made no progress would be an understatement. In fact, I feel that we made negative process by not getting the school & district to accept her ASD diagnosis. No only did they reject it, they had the nerve to say she sometimes displays autism-like tendencies, but in order to be coded as autistic she had to display signs in the school setting. I may have lost my cool and pulled out my angry eyes, however they were necessary to impart our feelings that no matter how long it takes or how much paperwork they bombard us with....we will not be going away! So, the lovely school with be doing another re-evaluation on her that involves school only resources and will then circle back to us to discuss their findings...because her medical diagnosis has no weight. Once complete, theyll discuss whether recoding her to reflect ASD fits the criteria. I believe that this is their ploy at not having to provide a specialized ASD curriculum to her. In the meantime, Tink continues to suffer at the hands of a shameful school district. If only up and moving was financially feasible.....
