Multiple months back before my graduation, I remember standing in a lunch line at school. There were several people in front of me who were familiar with me. They were speaking of presidents and within their conversation they asked me, Dont you love Lincoln? He freed the slaves!. All I did was cringe. School teaches you about how Lincoln freed the slaves. However, they do not teach you about his disagreement of equal opporitunities between black and white men. They do not teach you that he only freed the slaves so they could fight in the Civil War; simply because you cant draft men considered property to another. Hell, school doesnt even teach you about the mass hanging of 39 Natives that Lincoln ordered. So no, I do not love Abraham Lincoln. Plus, presidents dont really have as much power as you think, so they basically just go with what Congress wants.
