Mummy is finally extubated and off life support after unexpectedly developing ARDS on POD 2 after getting her heart. It has been a rocky and long road marked by fevers of unknown origin, hemodynamic instability and an eventual trip back to the OR to drain a liter of blood and fluid from her heart and lungs. Its crazy to see how quickly she went from walking, talking and eating post transplant to struggling to stay alive in 8 hours. Now we need to get her through her ICU delirium, get her nourishment up and get her to pass her swallow eval. I dream of the day of leaving the hospital with her. Feel forever changed as a doctor and daughter. Thanks for the prayers, wishes and love. Hoping for no more setbacks and instability.
