Music News ! Weezer Recruit Best Coasts Bethany Cosentino for Go Away ! Cosentino goes from Weezer opening artist to Weezer collaborator with Everything Will Be Alright in the End track. Over the past month, Weezers YouTube page has been pumping out some weird viral videos leading up to the release of the bands October 7th LP, Everything Will Be Alright in the End. Some clips have been more forthcoming than others, but in yesterdays video, dubbed ewbaite 18 Go Away, we learn that Best Coasts Bethany Cosentino will appear on the album track Go Away. On recent albums, when Cuomo has collaborated with the likes of Ryan Adams, Semisonics Dan Wilson and No Doubts Tony Kanal, the result has just been a shared writing credit. However, judging by the clip, Cosentinos contributions may have been much more than co-writing or singing backup on the track; she appears to share lead vocals on Go Away, which sounds like Weezer tackling the girl group sound of acts like the Shangri-Las and the Shirelles. Thanks for your kind words and support on my involvement with Go Away - Weezer is/was so important to me and my youth, so this is huge for me, Cosentino tweeted after the snippet above debuted, adding on Instagram, Well, I co-wrote and am featured on a song on the new Weezer album so basically, all my teenage dreams have officially come true. Best Coast was one of Weezers opening acts when Cuomo and the gang embarked on their Memories tour in 2010, and Cosentino joined Cuomo for a duet of Island in the Sun during some of those gigs. If the Go Away clip doesnt satiate your thirst for new Weezer tracks, some fans over at Absolute Punk have compiled sound check footage of still-unreleased Everything Will Be Alright in the End tracks Aint Got Nobody and Ive Had it Up to Here.
