Muslims in the Middle East yearn for freedom, but they try to justify the killing of a cartoonist because they were offended by the content of said cartoonists work. The power of the pen seems to provoke more outrage in the region than political tyranny, illiteracy, or any other prevalent issue. All this outrage does is cause other artists to join in and create even more offensive works. Bottom line, if you ask for freedom but wont allow anyone to criticize your beliefs, youre just creating a paradox. Intelligent people deal with offensive criticism through argument and debate, not guns and bombs.
