My 2 Cents of Sense: TAKING CARE OF THE POOR... TAKING CARE OF US On my way home from work on Friday, I was getting my daily fill of Rush, and something he said really disturbed me to the point that the longer I dwelled on it, the more outraged I became. Rush claims, from some source I didnt catch, that since LBJs War on Poverty back in 1967, taxpayers have spent over $10.73 trillion on giving the American poor a sustainable lifestyle. SUSTAINABLE LIFESTYLE??? That kind of money could make every man, woman, and child in America a millionaire!!! Ive never been much on commenting on the poor in America because I have the firm belief that the words poor and America dont belong in the same sentence. There is no doubt that America is one, if not THE richest nations in the world... BUT, we act like Howard Hughes at times, making everyone seem we are broke when we actually are very wealthy in reality. If you have never heard the stories about Hughes vagabond escapades, you should look them up, because some were quite amusing, as he would dress in torn, dirty attire with long, stringy gray hair and scraggly beard, basically looking like some road-kill off the street, and hitchhiked around the country, but leaving those who would actually stop to help him with a very generous tip of his gratitude. Hughes showed that you cant judge a book by its cover. With all our capabilities, with all our resources, and with all our knowledge and expertise, there really is no excuse for anyone in America to be without a job, homeless, and dirt poor UNLESS they so desire to live that way. Sure, there are exceptions to every rule, even poverty, as some are disabled or incapable to physically or mentally be like a normal working citizen, and this is why many programs were developed by our churches, our communities, by special charities, and our government to help those who are truly in need of help. Most Americans do have compassion for the truly poor who wouldnt be able to survive without having some assistance. But there are those who actually feel that by being an American, someone owes them a life. I have actually talked with some high school drop-outs that have told me, I wasnt asked to be born, so why should I have to live as someone else tells me I must live? Someone owes me for being here! Now, Ive heard some pretty lame-brain excuses why people need a helping hand, but because of existence? These people are nothing but pure 100% lazy, and what I call American spoiled. One of Americas free-loading examples recently appeared on The Factor with Bill OReilly after an interview in Watters World. OReillys guest was Jason Greenslate, a surfer-dude drop-out who lives on food stamp lobster, driving a $40K SUV, and takes advantage of the entitlement system while trying to get a record deal for his rock group called Rattlife. This urchin of society, as Bill called him, is proud to live in America where a person like him is well taken care of for simply existing. foxnews/on-air/oreilly/index.html#/v/3252036024001 There was a time, a couple of generations ago, when finding a meal, shelter, and means to stay warm was a full-time job. Half the country was unemployed... many thrown from their homes, living in shelters, cars, and make-shift tent cities, while dumpster-diving for a bite to eat. There were few programs, if any, that the government had to help the poor and needy, at that time. Americas economy was purposely flushed down the toilet by the greedy banker elites to consolidate businesses... in other words, drive smaller and less prosperous businesses out of business to sell out to their competitors who were owned by societies fat-cats. The American Great Depression was nothing more than a restructuring of our economy to make the nations wealthiest even wealthier. And, the common folk citizens of America paid for it. The causes for that economic revision can be traced to: 1) the wealthy dumping their stocks when after the government artificially propped them to record levels, 2) the major banks stopped loaning money and purposely creating a run on the banks in which smaller banks couldnt withstand, so millions lost their entire lifes savings, mortgages, and deeds, 3) the largest industries in America ganged up with government to create the Smoot-Hawley Tariff to help protect themselves from foreign investors and foreign products, forcing companies abroad to look elsewhere for investments, and foreign stores to sell their goods and services, 4) governments mismanage of money lead to a devaluing of the American dollar, creating skyrocketing inflation rates which made living expenses much more costly in an already depressed economy. Its obvious we havent learned from past mistakes, as America today is following almost the identical trend which lead to the worst economic period in our history when it didnt need to be at all. The money was always there, as is today, but it wasnt used in ways which would benefit the citizenry... only the wealthy fat-cats, as they saw their revenue and power increase, thus creating their control through problem-reaction-solution. If it hadnt been for WW II, its hard to say how long the Great Depression would have continued. Are you now starting to see the trend, here? Those who fail to understand history are destined to repeat it! Down turns in the economy are artificial, thus created for profit... of course, not our profit. We consumers pay through the nose in inflation, unemployment, reduction of service and product, tighter hold on money thats financed, higher interest rates, and the ills from not having enough revenue to sustain expenses when you live from pay check to pay check as 80% of Americans now do. We liquidate assets and borrow just to make ends meet. The circle of financial woe continues until the economy levels off as things return back to normal flow. But this time, its been different. We are now going on our 7th year of hardship, and things have not balanced out at all, only propped up to make appearance seems that things are returning to normal. We are far from it, and no indicators are showing that it will get any better before it becomes worse. Only the top 20% has seen an increase in their living standards... the rest of us have fallen into the abyss of despairity. Poverty levels have dramatically risen since Obama and the Demoncrats came into power. They continuously boast that they are the Party of the little guy out there. They claim to help the poor, the disabled, the handicapped, the minority, the depressed and depraved in America, but if you look at true history, the Demoncrats have done little to actually help these people, but only keeps them in their impoverished place. The Republicans have actually done more for the little guy than anyone else, yet receive no credit... but this is politics at its grandest, and the people will continue to believe what they want, and accept the lies and deceit like normal, because a blind horse knows it can run, but doesnt know where to finish. Americans, for the most part, are conditioned to fail. We accept it as the norm in our society, as those with money are the evil ones who are greedy and only interested in their own kind, says the Left as they demonize the rich. The Demoncrat mantra has been played so much that we believe it. We see it on the TV, in films, in the music, and in the papers. Many college student today believe that having too much money is immoral; that wealth only creates a wicked mind. We sometimes hear it in religion, too, as wealth creates a wicked soul. The wealthy kings and pharaohs used their wealth to enslave those with less, as they greedily took for their own gain, giving little back in return for the indentured service. Many look down to rich people because they have money that many dont feel they deserve. I do believe much is that of envy or jealousy. A wealthy CEO is a greedy pig because he needs to share his wealth with those who produce his profits. A wealthy investor probably cheated someone out of his money. Bankers are part of the globalist society. Ive even heard many say that lottery winners need to have 50% of their winnings go to charity. Is that before or after taxes? There are dozens of reasons that the Left has on why someone with wealth doesnt deserve it, EXCEPT for actors and athletes... yes, they do a service which is admirable, so do they deserve every penny they earn? I guess with most Americans, they are the ONLY ones who can be wealthy? Them and politicians??? You hear that Republicans are naturally wealthy, and they vote for candidates that insures that their wealth continues. I guess they never bothered to look at the wealthiest Americans and who they contribute towards. Who do they think are Obama, Pelosi, and Reids biggest supporters? The guy washing windows, or operating the press machine, or cooking the meals at Ponderosa Steak House? The American fat-cat votes Democrat 96% of the time to insure his place on top of the food chain, and to get political favors in return for his vote and generous contribution. Also, have you noticed the wealth accumulated by Demoncrat reps while in office, or after they retire from their legislative duties? Bribes and scandals are on both sides of the aisle, but Republicans seem to draw more attention, as the Demoncrats use hush money to make it all go away. Funny what you can do and get (away with) when you have enough money... even control the message! I deal with people all week, from dishwashers to restaurant owners... every sort of life and all income levels. Most are dissatisfied with their income, the way the economy is taking its toll on their living abilities, and that the government seems to be doing little, if anything, to rectify it. And there is the problem in which I point out time and time again. It is not the governments responsibility to feather our nest... its ours! If someone is dissatisfied with not making enough, then the solution is to make more. But here is the obstacle I run across with about 95% of those I talk with; they dont want to work to obtain it! Sure, it would be nice if our bosses gave us a $12,000 a year raise, or if we had a long lost rich uncle who left us his millions, score big on the long shot each time at the track, or we could land that cushy desk job where all we do is sign papers, file accounts, and talk on the phone while getting paid six-figures with full benefits. But luck only comes in spurts, if it comes to us at all... certainly not in the area of creating wealth. Most are unwilling to put forth the effort to get themselves from the minus to the plus category in their finances. I talk with those who gamble, some of them quite a lot. I see one every now and then who hit the slots for $1200 or so. But when you ask them how much they spent through the year to win that small amount, the answer is usually double or even triple the amount they won. I see people spent $20 a week playing the lottery, and never win. In a year, they spent over $1000 in a chance to win it big, and that will buy a lot of milk and bread. I personally know a guy who borrowed $10,000 from his dad to start his own business, and spent every dime of it at the local track. I have a friend that works in a factory whos supervisor hit the state lottery for over $2 million, quit his job to go to the Bahamas, and returned three months later begging for his job back, with only a tan to show for it. Conditioning, folks. We are conditioned to fail, and to be broke and miserable. Notice that few rich people gamble like the common folk does, and if they do, its for their pleasure because they can afford to lose. Rich people invest, and learn how to make money from money. Rich people gamble on themselves. They gamble on their time and their investment towards a project which pays a higher earnings than what you and I make. I watched a customer drop over a million in the stocks, and within the hour I was with him, he made over a million in return. He called me his good luck charm, but told me he has lost a million just as easily. He told me that 90% of the people are afraid to invest for fear of loss. They are conditioned to lose. I know a professional gambler in Texas who told me the same thing. If you are afraid of losing, you are guaranteed to never win. And this is why Americans are broke. Most fear loss, many dont want to spend time and effort against something they are unsure of. I had a concrete guy tell me he was broke, but needed a new truck, because he was eying my new Ford. I told him I could show him how to get that truck pretty easily, and when I went to his house to show him how a simple $500 investment will produce an extra $2000/mo income, guaranteed, he laughed and asked if he had to do anything to get it besides giving me his money? Because after work, he comes home, takes a shower, eats the meal his wife made, opens his beer and reclines in his chair in front of the TV until he falls asleep, and if he has to do more than that, hes not interested. Money doesnt grow on trees; money has to be earned. America is broke because few want to actually earn it. Theres too much effort to make it as is, and that if it cant be plucked from a branch, then they dont want anything to do with it. There are tons of Benjamins out there to be made, but people are afraid to work, afraid to invest, and afraid of loosing it, so they let it pass them by. For many, the American Dream is no longer a vision, as most have become comfortable living in the status quo of the society of the broke, waiting for their next paycheck so they can blow it. People are becoming accustomed to depending upon someone else in paying their bills. I know too many who turn to a rich relative to bail them out of financial trouble, and they keep doing it every time until their relative tells them to go screw themselves. And if its not a relative, its their boss, a co-worker, or someone else until they find the stash they need to keep them in action for another day... even steal it. People have not learned to say no to beggars, and neither has our government. Just last night, I learned that the government gives out billions in grants every year. They give out billions to others who also claim to be doing something good for the environment. People have figured out how to milk the system for years, but now they know how to apply for grants and contributions for activities and projects they never plan to take up... getting hundreds of thousands, even millions, for planting a few trees in their yard, building bird houses, or setting up a pond for wildlife to drink from. Single mothers can get grants for college tuition and expenses, and never spend a day in class. Then there is the professional welfare or disability case who takes every opportunity they can find in having someone else pay their expenses. I had a neighbor who both he and his wife were on full disability because they once were junkies, yet he mowed lawns while she baby-sit. They both had new vehicles, and always had guest over for a party. They eventually moved into a suburban house and paid cash for it. I have a relative who was in a car accident back in the 80s who hasnt worked a day since, yet lives in a nice apartment with expensive furniture, always eats good, yet has enough money to buy new clothes and goes out all the time, all courtesy of the taxpayers. Im sure that welfare and SS fraud is common in every city, as the resources to go after them is very low, and prosecuting them gets to be too expensive. As one social worker once told me, The city lets them get away with it because they cant afford to go after them, and if they did, the judge usually lets them go, so they dont bother. On welfare cases, it costs more to throw a mother into prison and put the kids in foster care than it does to simply pay them... and these people know it. America is breeding fat, stupid, and lazy citizens. They do as their told, vote the Democrat ticket, and keeps the cops, the courts, and the rehab centers in full operation... something most dont know that lawyers, judges and prosecutors get a kickback from. America doesnt want an educated citizenry, because smart people are not controllable. Smart people figure things out too quickly. Smart people resist. Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity, in separate researches, discovered that there is enough coal, gas, and oil in America to employ 60% of those unemployed or with low incomes. As the economy thrived, businesses would prosper which would lead to more jobs and higher paychecks for most. According to them, we could have a less than 2% unemployment rate in three years if the markets would open up, and government stepped away. The DSA (Direct Selling Association) researched that there is enough opportunities in America to create over a million millionaires, and millions of six-figure income earners in the next few years if people would accept and apply themselves to do it. So then, why is America poor? Because we let it be broke. We refuse to change the laws, we refuse to get off our asses, and we refuse to listen to reason and the truth. There is no excuse to be poor nor under paid in America. The more we earn, the more production is created. As in the Field of Dreams, if you build it, they will come. We can again have the factories, the services, the stores, and the ability to live above our standards if we would learn to turn ourselves around. We have to get our children away from government education, liberal colleges, and union employment. We have to stop watching shows and film which teaches us to lose, and we have to begin to read books that teach us how to win. We have to learn that a few years of sweat equity will get us a lifetime of relaxation ability. We have to show disabled and handicapped people that they dont have to be forced into a lifestyle they choose not to live. We have to start saying no to free-loaders, and remove the handouts from their plate. If we teach a man to fish, he will be able to feed his family for life, as the saying goes. Sometimes, the best way to make people do something is by giving them no other alternatives. But so long as the free money flows, the TV blares with failure, music screams hate, and government restricts, we will continue to slide further towards the cliff, and catastrophe will no longer be a warning, but the way of life for many. Change starts with the individual. If we can change ourselves, we can change others. We are what we produce, and if we continue producing failure, then expect seeing more of it to come. If we produce success and vision, then the American Dream will return, and again, America will be the prosperous nation in which our Founders envisioned for all. It will take hope, it will take belief, and it will take spirit... and once we have them, there will be no stopping us! Thank you for your support. Bless all who fights for success!
