My 4th great grandfather Roger Park fought in the Revolutionary - TopicsExpress

My 4th great grandfather Roger Park fought in the Revolutionary War under the command of Light Horse Harry Lee. Roger was given land near Morgantown for his service. He and his son Joe Park(3rd great grandfather) were veterans of the War of 1812. Both were POWs and Roger died in a prison in Quebec. Joes son Simon Nelson Park(2nd great grandfather) fought in the Civil War. He was from Burning Springs WV and served with the Union. His infantry unit was at Appomattox Court House when Lee surrendered. My uncle Dennis was a veteran of WWI and my cousin Nelson (Caitlin Park Townsends grandfather) served with the US Marines in the Pacific Theater during WWII. My uncle Victor and my dad (Jack Park) both served in the US Air Force. Uncle Victor put cameras on U2 spy planes and was with Francis Gary Powers before Powers was shot down and captured by the Soviets during the Cold War. Uncle Vic developed the photos that showed the missiles on Cuba too. He worked at the Skunkworks and Area 51 in the early 1960s. My Dad was part of the DEW line in Labrador in Canada. Dad also worked air traffic control for the USAF at Ft. Dix in New Jersey. Interestingly and ironically the first Park to settle in the American colonies in Hopewell NJ was a quaker named Roger Parke who was a doctor from Cartmel England. Quakers are pacifists.
