My Facebook friends this is a revised edit version the letter to be sent to the 21 different African American Banks across the US. I am truly looking for 1/3 of the Minorities in this country to sign or attach their name to this before the end of this year. Read it and give me your thoughts. Greetings I am taking this opportunity to first introduce myself and request something from you as a financial institution. I pray that the information you read prompts you to act immediately. My name is Johnny W. Floyd, Jr. I am an African American male, a Veteran of the U.S. Army, and a credentialed Minister. I am writing this letter to you and 20 other African American Financial Institutions in the U.S. What you will read is a vision that you may recall from the compelling instructions Dr. King declared in his speech, in Memphis on April 3, 1968, referencing economic withdrawal. This letter is a call to action. We must cease the marches, protests, signs, interviews and conversations. These ‘freedoms of speech’ that we have exercised are no longer effective! Your institution and the 20 others, hold the key to hopes and dreams of financial freedom for millions of minority citizens charged with a duty by Dr. King years ago. Your response will affect millions of minorities (Black, Hispanic, and other nationalities) across the United States of America and other countries. You are aware that the African American Community buying power is over $1.3 trillion dollars. As a personal response to Dr. Kings’ message, I am compelled to form a coalition titled “The 21…The Power of 1”, which represents the 21 African American financial institutions. It is my objective to gain 10,000,000 signatures to create ‘ground swell’ in support of this financial march to prompt each of the 21 coming together to form (one) 1 financial institution. As a result, we the people will have the opportunity that we may move our money from the other banks and credit unions to yours. This level of economic wealth challenges the status quo as we exercise economic withdrawal from Sun Trust, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Chase and PNC to name a few. Such an economic revolution will give minorities the voice we need socially and politically to affect real change. Our new march must not be with our feet. Our new march must be toward the solidarity of the 21 becoming the Power of 1 economic institution. Remaining as a standalone bank does not benefit the people. If we as a people should come together, so should you. Your move in response to this letter becomes the foot print to a revolution that will be fueled by our pooled resources and singular voice. Together, let’s finish the work Dr. King started! Johnny W Floyd, Jr.
