My Job (as a Coach) As a Coach, it’s not my job to make you - TopicsExpress

My Job (as a Coach) As a Coach, it’s not my job to make you feel good, tell you what you want to hear, hold your hand, navigate your insecurities or tippy-toe around your frail self-esteem. I’m not your mum. My job is to help you get over yourself. To empower you to move past the self-loathing, self-sabotage and over-thinking. To help you step into your passion, power and potential. To provide insights, messages and strategies that work when you do the work. Change lives in the doing and because of that, I care more about what you do over the long term than what you might feel in the short term. Interestingly, what some people will interpret as un-caring or negative (from me) is intended to be, the exact opposite. Don’t misinterpret challenging, confronting, uncomfortable words for lack of care and, at the same time, don’t assume that the all-too-familiar rah-rah motivational fluff will empower you to anything more than a temporary shift in emotion. The truth is that some people prefer to get offended because it requires less courage and effort than the alternative; owning up, stepping up and doing the hard stuff. In life, the things we need to hear are often not the things we want to hear and if it’s a cheer squad, hand-holder or back-rubber you need, I’m definitely not your guy. So let me be clear, do I care? Absolutely. Does that care always come wrapped in a pretty ribbon? No. :)
