My Maternal Grandmother, Bertha. She would go with me at least - TopicsExpress

My Maternal Grandmother, Bertha. She would go with me at least twice a week to the beach. I would be going there to lay out in the sun and she would surf fish. She did not care I only had my drivers licenses for 3 months. She would get in that old green Pinto and here we would go. Rod and Reel hanging out the window. All the grandchildren called her Ma. You should have seen her. Long sleeves, long pants, Red Wind Breaker, Socks, bonnet, clip on sun glass lens over her glasses and an apron. I would carry all of her bags, bucket and bait for her. I was not allowed to touch her rod and reel. That now rest at the top of my stairs. We would get settled for me to tan and her to fish. Just as soon as I slipped into a nap, she would holler at me and say you need to put some clothes on. You will be eat up with skin cancer. Never failed saying this to me. No, Ma you have enough clothes on that makes shade for me. You better listen to your, Ma. My mother took her everywhere she needed to go. Which meant I got to go. I cant even begin to tell you the things she bought me when we went to town. (Wilmington) Good memories are a wonderful thing.
